Drought in southwest China

These days, severe drought in southwest China has been torturing our hearts. When we learned that an unknown villager lost his life on his way to find water for other villagers, when we hear that an old lady drinks dirty water to stay alive, when we see cracks at the bottom of dry lakes, when we see the once lush land showing the red color of death, our hearts are filled with sorrow.

We Chinese must take action on our sympathies and unite once again. Disaster-relief methods are not enough. Rain is the only end to the scourge. Though a day or a week of rainfall would not be enough to end the drought, I am a bit relieved that at least there is water coming to the dried-up lands.

This severe drought is not a good thing, but through it, we can learn how important the environment is for this world. Any exploitation of natural resources is risky. If we can't stop our constant pressure on Mother Nature and let her have a rest, she will punish us again.
