Zhouzhaung transforms toilets into attractions

Zhouzhuang, in recent years, has ramped up efforts to upgrade and renovate the public toilets in its core scenic area so as to better services for visitors and echo the national drive to construct and upgrade public toilets, known as "toilet revolution" launched in 2015.

Some restrooms in the iconic water town in East China's Jiangsu province have become scenes for visitors, such as the one in the Pear Garden, formerly known as Zhouzhuang Ancient Opera Stage.

The facility features an ancient Chinese architecture style, with its walls decorated by paintings promoting the Kunqu Opera, one of the oldest forms of Chinese opera, originates from Kunshan.

Meanwhile, the restroom has also realized intelligent management. Through electronic screens equipped outside, cleaners and users could get to know whether a cubicle is currently being used and the air quality in the facility.

Designed based on local conditions, most newly added ones in the town fit well into the surrounding environment and have their own distinctive characteristics.
