More than 900 people in Xiamen obtain licenses to operate yachts

A total of 1,069 people have obtained operating licenses for yachts in Fujian Province, and the total number in Xiamen is among the top 3 nationwide, according to Mr. Wu Wei, director of the Crew Management Department of Fujian Maritime Safety Administration.
With years of development, Xiamen has taken the lead in promoting China's yacht industry. It is now home to more than 80 yacht-related enterprises, including 10 yacht manufacturing factories, 25 yacht sales companies, 24 marine equipment manufacturers and 15 yacht clubs.
In 2014, the output value of the yacht and boat manufacturing industry reached about 725 million yuan and the sales volume of yachts and boats hit about 1.2 billion yuan. The income turnover of rental companies of yachts and boats reached about 115 million yuan in 2014 and the sales volume of marine equipment manufacturers amounted to about 300 million yuan.
The Wuyuanwan Marina in Xiamen is the largest marina in southeastern China, covering a water area of 150 hectares with a planned 500 berths. More than 210 yachts and boats dock within the marina year round.
The annual Xiamen International Boat Show is one of the top 3 boat events in China, and its 8th edition of the event will be held from November 7th-10th this year.
The city is in need of more marine talents as the yacht training industry is gaining popularity. It usually takes about 10 days to complete yacht training and costs about 16,000 yuan.
The four training organizations that are eligible for providing yacht training in Xiamen include Huayang Maritime (Xiamen) Yacht Training Co., Ltd, Xiamen R&B Yacht Marina Development Co., Ltd, Xiamen Jetpon Yachts Co., Ltd and Jimei University.
