Xiamen Airlines is targeting the outbound tourism market for the upcoming Spring Festival traffic peak from Feb 4 to Mar 16, and will triple flights to Southeast Asia, especially Singapore.
Taiwan, another expected hot flight destination for Xiamen tourists, will have more than 50 extra flights for the festival traffic.
Ticket bookings for those flights have already begun.
Outbound tourism has been flourishing in China in recent years, and attracted more than 100 million people in 2014. It is expected to have another successive increase in 2015.
Outbound tourism products in Xiamen travel agencies are selling like hot cakes, and the Spring Festival in the year of goat is likely to embrace the biggest ever spring festival outbound tourism.
Xiamen Airlines will add 175 extra flights in the spring festival traffic peak. Ninety-eight of them will fly to Singapore, including 55 from Fuzhou, capital of Fujian province, 34 from Xiamen and 9 from Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province. Fifty flights will leave for Taiwan, including 19 from Fuzhou, 20 from Xiamen and 11 from Hangzhou.
