The Fujian-Taiwan Cultural Center opened on Oct 10 in Zengcuo’an, Xiamen, Fujian province. The center is free to the public.
Covering an area of 300 square meters the center was an old dwelling built during Emperor Daoguang’s reign in the Qing dynasty (1644-1911). The reconstruction work, which started in July 2014 and was completed in early October,,was initiated by non-government funds of 500,000 yuan and got governmental subsidies by applying for a high-quality cultural building program. It is a new pattern of relic protection – nongovernmental initiation with governmental support after a quality assessment.
The center, consisting of four parts – a Fujian-Taiwan culture pavilion, a teahouse and two bars, is expected to be a special place for cultural design, art exchange and leisure. It features old items collected from Fujian and Taiwan, including porcelain, stamps, and food coupons. Calligraphy and paintings of celebrities are also displayed in the center.
In addition, the 2014 Zengcuo’an International Beer Culture Fair was held on the same day and attracted many tourists by inviting them to taste 10 top international beers and sharing beer knowledge.
Address: No 260, Zengcuo’an community, Siming district, Xiamen, Fujian province.
