Following Buddhism on Mount Wutai

The monks of Mount Wutai, in Shanxi province, held a large ceremony, on May 17, in the Dailuoding Temple to pray for peace in the world and prosperity for all living creatures.

Buddhists from many different cities ascended the mountain at 4:00 in the morning before the ritual began. Chang Shan, head of the temple, and president of the Wutai Buddhism Association, was the host of the ceremony, which lasted three hours, and led the visitors in chanting sutras.
