Siwin Foods aims for global success

Updated : 2016-11-01

Siwin Foods, China's leading food company with headquarters in Yantai, Shandong province, specializes in the development, production and sale of sauces and meat products.

The company has been striving to implement the strategy of "going out". Its first overseas subsidiary was established in 2004 in Edmonton, capital of Alberta, Canada.

After more than a decade's development, Siwin has fully integrated into the local market and become a well-known food brand in Canada.

Things did not start smoothly for the company's Canadian operations. Its meat products didn't gain market acceptance for the first few years. Foreign consumers remained distrustful about product quality and potential food safety issues. Beyond that, language barriers and major cultural differences also prevented the development of the newly established subsidiary.

Despite frustrations, Siwin didn't give up. It kept trying hard to find solutions to the difficulties it was facing.

After three years of arduous endeavor, the opportunity came. A local department-store agreed to introduce Siwin's products on a test basis. Siwin seized the opportunity for more exposure to the Canadian market and its meat products gained praise and recognition from local consumers.

Siwin was quickly inundated with orders, including from Carrefour, Metro, Safeway and Costco. The company's products have since become a major player in the Canadian market.
