The Boshan district in Zibo city, Shandong province, has become China's largest colored glass producing base.
Last year, the colored glass industry brought Boshan an output value of 2.6 billion yuan ($407.16 million), with some of its products sold to more than 40 countries and regions including the United States, Australia and Japan.
Boshan is the birthplace of China's glass industry, and its glass products date back to the early period of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
Boshan has at least 50 artists and thousands of glass technicians working in the industry's more than 100 companies.
These companies now produce 15 categories of glass products, covering more than 10,000 colors and shapes.
To enhance its industrial competitiveness, Boshan spent 1.3 billion yuan ($203.58 million) to build a China Ceramics and Glazed Glass Center to boost its ceramic industrial competitiveness.
