Tai'an tourism in the spotlight
2010-11-24

Tai’an tourism was in the spotlight at the 2010 China International Tourism Fair held in Shanghai Nov 18 to Nov 21.

The China International Tourism Fair was the first international tourism event held in China after the successful completion of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. This year’s fair attracted delegations from 95 countries and regions to exhibit their tourism products. Tai'an’s municipal tourism administration sent the largest delegation yet to the fair. Delegation members included representatives for the Taishan Mountain scenic area, Fantawild Amusement Park and Dongzun Ramada Grand Hotel.

Five Tai'an exhibits introduced new Anhui province tourism programs and products to visitors. Two image ambassadors, dressed in ancient-style gowns to resemble Emperor Gaozong and the Queen Wu Zetian in the Tang Dynasty (618-907), distributed promotional pamphlets and souvenirs. More than 200,000 people received tourism information from the Tai'an exhibits, including tourism agents from more than 60 countries and regions. The 60 countries and regions included the United States, Canada, Britain, Korea and Singapore. Domestic and overseas TV stations arranged interviews with the Tai'an delegation at the fair.

The Taiwan Lion Travel Service, Central Europe Travel Agency in Singapore, America Asia Travel Center and Canada-China Tourism Association signed promotional agreements with the Tai'an delegation for the Flower Appreciating Tour and the Spring Festival Fair.

During the fair, the Tai'an delegation distributed more than 40,000 promotional pamphlets and about 1,000 scenic area tickets valued at 100,000 yuan ($15,050).

The Shandong province delegation won awards for best exhibit and best performance from the China National Tourism Administration.
