5. Economic Strength

Dezhou’s economic development is full of vitality and ranks among the cities with fast economic development nationwide and also among the 50 cities which won the national competition of comprehensive value of environment. In addition, Dezhou also wins the title of ‘China Solar City’, ‘The Functional City of China’ and ‘The Central Air-conditioner City of China’.

In 2008, the GDP of Dezhou reached RMB 140 billion, an increase of 13.5% over the previous year; the financial revenue reached RMB 4.71 billion, an increase of 12.1% over the previous year; the fixed assets investment was RMB 70 billion, an increase of 26% over the previous year; the total amount of social consumer products reached RMB 47.6 billion, an increase of 23% over the previous year; the disposable income per capita of urban and rural citizens reached RMB 15535 and RMB 5833 respectively, both an increase of 17% over the previous year. The total amount of foreign trade reached USD 1.5 billion, an increase of 44% over the previous year, among which the export value was USD 1.2 billion and the actual utilized foreign capital was USD 1.6 billion, an increase of 36% and 23% over the previous year respectively.
