6. Tourism

Dongying city is rich in tourism resources. The north is the natural landscape characteristic of wetland system of the mouth of Bohai Sea. The middle landscape features in modern oil industry, and the south is the place where the old State Qi flourished during Warring State Period more than 2000 years ago. The old and modern scenery intersect with each other and make Dongying city an attractive holiday resort. The existing Guan-di Temple Hall(which is very popular in Chinese culture, a place used to worship Guanyu, the sage general of Three-States Period in Chinese history.) was originally built in 2nd Jianyan Emperor in South Song dynasty (1128AD) and is the oldest and most fully protected wooden architecture discovered so far in Shandong Province. The towering derricks, densely-grown oil trees, oilfield base and University of China Petroleum compose of the splendid humanity culture of Dongying City. Moreover, here also boasts water city sight of the Yellow River, the ecologic and cultural corridor of the Guangli River, and the largest man-made reservoir in the north of the Yangtze River—the Swan Lake, etc.
