3. Natural Condition
The Yellow River Delta possesses vast land, rich resources and unique ecological system. It is a piece of magic land. It is not only the hometown to Sunwu, the great military strategist during Spring-Autumn Period in history, and the Lv opera, a local opera of Shandong province, but also to Shengli Oilfield, the second largest oil base in China. Here also lie national natural protecting zone and magical wetland system.
4. Culture
Dongying is known as an immigrant city and possesses multiply cultures. The Yellow River Delta witnessed three big immigration processes in early Ming dynasty, Republic China and after liberation. As a result, the interaction and combination of different ideologies and cultures lead to a tolerant, harmonious and opening culture of the Yellow River Delta which features in everlasting the Yellow River culture, deep-rooted culture of ancient State Qi, hardworking spirit of oilfield workers, opening and harmonious immigration culture, and unique ecological culture.
5. Ecological System and Natural Resources
The confluence of the Yellow River and the Bohai Sea year after year gave birth to the youngest land of P.R.C.—the vast Yellow River Delta. With the most integrated and vastest and youngest wetland ecology system in warm-temperate zone, the national Yellow River Delta natural reserve is a geological park approved by the State Council. With a total area of 1530 square kilometers, mainly aimed at protecting newly-born wetland system, rare and extinct birds, the natural reserve is an important transfer station for birds’ migration, inhabitation and reproduction in northeastern Asia and west circum-pacific area. With its flourishing vegetation and vital animals hunting around, the reserve has maintained the peculiarity of the original ecology and is very primitive and unique. It boasts abundant wildlife resources which includes 393 species of plants and 1543 species of wild animals, among which some are very rare ones. In addition to that, here also lies a vast grassland. The unique geographical location and natural conditions crown the reserve as one of the six most beautiful wetlands in the country.
