Since the opening of Bijiashan Gorge Rafting in Qingxin county in March 2000, six more rafting centers have opened for business in Qingyuan. They are: Qingxin Xuanzhen Gorge Rafting, Qingxin Gaotian Bishuitan Rafting, Qingcheng Huangteng Gorge Rafting, Fogang Yangjiaoshan Underground Vault Rafting, Yingde Yingxi Peak Forest Underground River Rafting and Yingde Feixia Bixi Rafting.
Detailed information on seven major rafting sites is provided below:
1. Qingxin Bijiashan Gorge Rafting
Qingxin Bijiashan Gorge Rafting was founded in 1999 and opened for business in March 2000. The watercourse is set inside Bijiashan Forest Park and is about 8km from the city center. It maintains authentic ecological characteristics, the water is natural and clear and the watercourse is 8.5km long with a rafting time of 130min.
The rafting section at Hutiao Gorge (commonly known as “warrior rafting”) is 3.5km long and more than 800m above the sea level, with a fall of more than 160m and a rafting time of about 50min.
The gorge rafting section (commonly known as happy-go-lucky rafting) is 5km long, with a fall of more than 90m and a rafting time of about 80min.
Rafting season runs from May to October. During this period, the average air temperature is 24--26℃. With a capacity of more than 5,000 people, the center offers a complete set of services and enjoys the reputation of “Best Rafting in Guangdong”. In 2001, it successfully held the National Second Rafting Competition.
