Located at the top of Dongyue (meaning "mountain in the east") Mountain, Lianzhou of Qingyuan, Dongyue Imperial Palace is the highest temple in Guangdong, perched at 1,452 meters!

Listed as one of the 10 New Discoveries in Qingyuan in August 2010 and now a hot spot for climbing, the temple was previously built in 1898 during the Qing Dynasty and renovated in 1946. It was for the masses to worship the lord of Taishan Mountain, which is located in east China's Shandong province and thus regarded as the "mountain in the east".

According to experts, three temples in the palace are valuable cultural heritages and "there is still more that needs to be studied" as the site probably holds many hidden treasures.
