The Zungeru Hydropower Project in Nigeria in Africa was given the Outstanding Overseas Security Development Project award at the 5th Lianyungang Forum -- held on Dec 9-10 in Lianyungang city, in East China's Jiangsu province.
It is the largest hydroelectric power station currently under construction in Nigeria undertaken by POWERCHINA, the Beijing-based infrastructure construction group, which is one of the chief contractors.
Confronted with the severe security situation in Nigeria, the group's project department conducted in-depth security assessments with a leading international consultancy.

The project established and improved its security management system, ensuring the safety of project personnel and property and effectively guaranteeing the smooth progress of the project's construction.
With a total investment of $1.29 billion, Zungeru Hydropower Project is located in the middle and upper reaches of the River Kaduna near Zungeru in Nigeria, with a total capacity of 700 megawatts.
The Lianyungang Forum is an international law enforcement cooperation event for the new Eurasian Continental Bridge Security Corridor, initiated by the Ministry of Public Security in 2015.
It aims to bring together government and international organization officials, law enforcement and police, business leaders and think tank experts to participate and promote law enforcement security with innovative thinking and pragmatic measures to serve global economic development.
