The construction by Sinohydro Bureau 4 Co involved nine substations, 50 kilometers of 60-kilovolt overhead transmission lines and 500 km of urban medium voltage overhead lines.

It also involved construction of 50 km of medium voltage underground cables, 2,200 km of low-voltage overhead lines and 145 km of sub-surface cable.

The project also included installation of 1,000 distribution transformers and 300,000 household connections and prepaid meter installations.

During construction, Sinohydro Bureau 4 Co managed to overcome various difficulties and fulfilled its contract smoothly, the company spokesman said.

The project is projected to meet the energy needs of about 2 million people in Luanda, close to two-thirds of the population in the province.

"During the construction, Sinohydro utilized all available resources to ensure the progress of the project. We are deeply impressed by its professional and dedicated attitude," said a spokesman for the Angolan National Company of Electricity.
