Algerian housing construction project handed over

Updated: 2020-12-03

The El Oued 3482 housing construction project in Algeria built by Sinohydro Bureau 3 Co -- a subsidiary of POWERCHINA -- was recently officially handed over.

The local government and the owner sent a letter of congratulations to the company and spoke highly of the construction team.

"The completion of the project has greatly eased the housing tension in El Oued province in recent years," the letter said.

"Especially during the COVID-19 epidemic, it has played an important role in stabilizing local people's livelihoods in Algeria."

With a total construction area of 360,000 square meters, the project is an affordable housing project initiated by the El Oued provincial government, featuring 12 sections in six areas.

The successful completion and delivery of the project will solve a housing shortfall for the local population, estimated at about 25,000 units.

During construction, the POWERCHINA project department overcame a number of challenges, including a tight turnaround time and high temperatures, to bring the development in on time and according to strict construction standards.

At the start of 2020, Algeria's Quality Supervision Bureau, the supervisors and the project owners implemented restrictive office protocols in response to the impact of the novel coronavirus epidemic and the final handover, as a result, presented challenges.

The POWERCHINA project department held a special meeting to speed up the project acceptance work in accordance with the final work schedule, while undertaking its own epidemic prevention measures.

Moving forwards, POWERCHINA plans to further participate in the construction of Algeria's housing construction and infrastructure and contribute to the country's economic development.
