The Matiari-Lahore Transmission Line Project in Pakistan -- a 660-kilovolt high-voltage direct current (DC) line -- was completed on Oct 26, with a major chunk of the construction performed by Shanghai Electric Power Construction Co, a subsidiary of POWERCHINA.
The POWERCHINA unit provided key structures for the project. These included two converter station valve halls, a maintenance spare parts warehouse, as well as auxiliary facilities such as profiled steel plate enclosures and special doors and windows.

During the construction, the company strictly followed the plans and overcame various adverse effects caused by the COVID-19 epidemic, making sure it provided solid and reliable work so the project was put into operation on schedule, winning highly praise by the owners.
As the first DC transmission project in Pakistan, the Matiari-Lahore Transmission Line Project starts from Matiari in Sindh province and ends in the city of Lahore, Punjab province, with a total length of 890 kilometers.
It is a priority project of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and a key project of the Belt and Road Initiative.
It will become Pakistan's energy artery, transporting energy produced under the Southern China-Pakistan Economic Corridor to Punjab, a major economic province.
