POWERCHINA's Santa Lucia-Kempis highway project in Venezuela held its commencement ceremony on Feb 1, 2014. The project is the first EPC project under a trilateral cooperation framework among China, Venezuela and Brazil. It is being carried out through a joint venture formed by Sinohydro Engineering Bureau 8, POWERCHINA (80 percent), and Camargo Correa Company, Brazil (20 percent). It includes the design, procurement and construction of 20km of new highway and the widening of 4km of old highway. The project shall be implemented in two phases with a total construction period of 24 months.
