Lijiang's tourist department guards travel civilization

Yunnan's tourism law-enforcement department has begun a two-week review of guided tourism issues for trips between Lijiang and Diqing Tibet autonomous prefecture.

The review mainly focuses on anti-regulation behavior such as compulsory consumption, illegal guiding and uncivilized reception. Li Wu, deputy director of Diqing's tourism commission, said that agencies which receive tourist groups from Lijiang to Diqing must report the groups’ information to the commission the day before regulatory officials are sent to the areas.

The commission sends six officials to each of the two regions to track and supervise the guided groups.

Any violation of the regulations will be punished accordingly. The supervision will be carried out at random times after the two-week review is over to promote travel agencies' self-regulatory ability.
