Zhangjiagang Economic & Technological Development Zone surrounds Zhangjiagang city and covers an area of 153 square kilometers, with a population of 530,000.

The zone has its own key emerging industries, such as intelligent equipment, robots, green energy and lighting, smart grids, chips, and re-manufacturing. It also has established a modern industry system, especially focused on the modern service industry.

It is home to three national industrial bases - PV industry demonstration base, National Film, Television and Network Animation Experimental Park, a remanufacturing industry demonstration base, and provincial level industrial parks - including a modern equipment manufacturing industrial park, international service outsourcing demonstration zone, special equipment for energy conservation and technology industrial park.

In addition, several key projects are underway, such as the International Business District, Denmark Eco Technology City, and the Valley of E-commerce. The national high-tech innovation service center - Technology Park - and other national carrier of innovation and entrepreneurship have already been established.

A group of technology innovative platforms settled in the zone, including Zhangjiagang Technology Transfer Center of Peking University, Zhangjiagang Industrial Technology Research Institute of Nanjing University of Science andJiangsu East China Lithium Technology Research Institute of Tsinghua University.

To win the global title as the capital of compound semiconductor, the zone has gathered many leading foreign and domestic enterprises, such as GCL System Integration Technology Co, HC SemiTek Corporation and Zhangjiagang Furui Special Equipment Co, It also built Shazhou Lake Technological Innovation Park, the first national demonstration base for the remanufacturing industry and a national science and technology enterprise incubator.

The zone will focus on building an area of modern industrial agglomeration, technological innovation demonstration, a pilot for development and opening-up, as well as a pleasant city for residents and visitors.
