The 5G Application Innovation Ecosystem Conference, which was held in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province on Sept 6, drew some 800 industry experts, company representatives and key guests as a warm-up event for the World Internet of Things Expo 2019 from Sept 7-10.
During the conference, the Chinese telecom operator announced the setting up of a fund of funds (FOF) on 5G innovation worth 10 billion yuan ($1.40 billion) at its first phase, aiming to stimulate 5G innovation development and gather more industry resources.
During the conference, a 5G ultra-high-definition live broadcasting platform was launched and 20 outstanding 5G application cases were released.
A members conference of the 5G Application Innovation Union of China Unicom was also held.
Established on April 23, the union has attracted over 600 members that cover the upstream, midstream, and downstream of the industrial chain involved in 5G innovation. It plans to develop into a more inclusive and innovative group, according to Liang Baojun, deputy general manager of China Unicom in his opening speech.
