Two Wuxi entrepreneurs received national titles at an awards ceremony held in Beijing on Aug 29.
The awards ceremony, in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, has been held five times since it began in 2004. It recognizes individuals from the non-public sector who have devoted themselves to the construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
A total of 100 entrepreneurs in the fields of science and technology, finance, and advanced manufacturing were awarded the title of "outstanding builders of socialism with Chinese characteristics", six of whom were from Jiangsu province.

Winners from Wuxi include Zhou Jianping, chairman of Heilan Group, and Tang Liping, proprietor of Yixing's Zisheng Taoxuan Ceramics Business Department, both of whom have made great contributions to the development of Wuxi's non-public sector.
Heilan Group, one of China's largest textile and garment companies, is the first company in Wuxi with operating revenue exceeding 100 billion yuan ($14 billion). It ranked 39th among China's Top 500 Private Enterprises this year.

Tang Liping, a producer and operator of dark-red enameled pottery, won gold medals at the Expo of Art and Crafts Masterpieces by National Leading Artists five times.
