A high-powered delegation from Chinese energy and infrastructure group Power Construction Corp of China, also known as PowerChina, met with top Wuxi officials on Aug 21, during which both parties talked of expanding their commercial ties.
Wuxi Party Secretary Li Xiaomin and Wuxi Mayor Huang Qin welcomed the corporate delegation led by Yan Zhiyong, chairman of the company.
Li briefed Wuxi on its economic and social developments, especially progress on its transport networks.
Li said Wuxi is making efforts to promote the construction of a second round of rail transit infrastructure. By the end of this September, the southward extension of Wuxi Metro line 1 and S1 Wuxi-Jiangyin Metro line will be open, he said.
Next September is scheduled for opening the first phase of Metro line 3 and the construction of the S2 Wuxi-Yixing Metro line.
With the plan to open the first phase of Metro line 4 in September 2021, Wuxi will have installed some 100 kilometers of new track to meet the demand of city development, Li said.
As State-owned PowerChina had previously worked with Wuxi on the construction of Metro line 1, both sides could be expected to partner up again on fresh projects in the future.
PowerChina President Yan Zhiyong praised Wuxi for its natural resources and the city's development. He said he expected the two sides would expand their ties in the construction of new transport infrastructure, projects involving Wuxi's evolution into a smart city and in its management of the water environment.
