Wuxi's Huishan district held a ceremony to announce its rural revitalization project along the 25-km-long Xixi Road on July 29.
With an investment of 1.12 billion yuan ($162.7 million) this year, the project aims to promote the business layout, living environment, natural environment and culture along Xixi Road over the next three years.
The area along Xixi Road is home to nearly 80 percent of the rural population in Huishan district and accounts for 85 percent of agricultural development land and 90 percent of rural housing. It is also an important tourist area with profound historical and cultural significance.
Xu Jie, deputy Party secretary of Wuxi, attended the ceremony and said the project is a significant part of rural revitalization efforts in Wuxi. The area along Xixi Road is expected to pilot the development of new-type rural industries and rural tourism to promote local culture, ecological civilization and quality of life.
