A total of 156 young Chinese from the US, Germany, Canada, Australia, Spain and Kuwait participated in a 10-day root-seeking summer camp, which kicked off in Jiangyin, Wuxi on July 11.
During the summer camp, the youngsters were invited to visit famous scenic spots in Jiangyin, Wuxi and Suzhou in East China's Jiangsu province. They also learned about Chinese instruments, martial arts, calligraphy, Chinese tea, Peking Opera mask making and pottery making, and will visit several local enterprises.

The activity aims to help young overseas Chinese gain a better understanding of Wuxi's traditions and customs. Another 120 students will take part in the 10-day camp in Jiangyin starting on July 22.
The root-seeking summer camp was started in 1999 and has become an annual event to attract overseas Chinese children to visit China.
