The second Jiangnan Context Cultural Summit will be held in Wuxi from Oct 28 to 30 to promote cultural protection and development in the Yangtze River Delta.
Sponsored by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Publicity and Wuxi Municipal Government, the summit aims to explore the historical Chinese culture of the Jiangnan area (a region on the southern bank of the lower Yangtze River).
Over 300 cultural experts and scholars from home and abroad will take part in the summit. The event will be made up of one main summit, 10 sub forums and eight related events. Topics of discussion will include the cultural inheritance and sustainable development of Jiangnan poems, operas and arts.
This year’s summit will have a branch venue in Taizhou, Jiangsu province for the first time. Taizhou is known as the birthplace of the Taizhou School in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), the first ideological enlightenment school in Chinese history.
Other events including a micro-video competition, poem competition and art exhibitions will be held around the summit. The micro-video competition opened on June 5, collecting creative works which tell cultural stories from the Jiangnan area.
