Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province will host a series of events in celebration of the 45th World Environment Day, which falls on June 5 every year.
Wuxi has chosen every June to be the city's "environment month", where the city will promote environment protection through posters, videos, microfilms and volunteer events.
After a three-month selection process, an egret wearing a blue baseball cap was chosen as the mascot of this year's "environment month" on June 5.
Egrets are believed to be strong environmental indicators as they can only be seen when an area is in good condition.

Wuxi, located along Taihu Lake, promotes proper management of the natural environment. As a result of these efforts, residents' awareness of environmental protection has been continuously increasing, and the city has become an excellent habitat for various birds including egrets, night herons and pond herons.
According to the Wuxi Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau, the final name of the mascot will be collected from residents in June.
