A number of fine design works competed in the 8th Taihu Award Design Competition, part of the 15th China (Wuxi) International Design Expo on May 26.
The auxiliary equipment for RDC's rescue dogs came out on top after a fierce competition. The project was the work of Ma Xiaoqi, a junior from the School of Design at Dalian Minzu University.
Ma's work can help rescue dogs send time, location and other information to rescuers when they bark and find a trapped person, which is expected to help improve efficiency in disaster relief and save more lives.
The total prize money for Ma reached one million yuan ($145,000), half in cash and half to support the winner's application and development in Wuxi.

The 72 finalists were chosen from 6,508 total entrants, covering areas of innovation technology and smart life. All of the 72 works were checked by Wuxi (National) Design Patent Information Center to guarantee their originality.
Wuxi Deputy Mayor Gao Yaguang commended the competition for accelerating the development of the creative design industry and the integration of innovative ideas from at home and abroad.
The 8th Taihu Award Design Competition was aimed at displaying the latest technological design trends and raising the public's awareness of intellectual property protection.
