Wuxi city in East China's Jiangsu province held a meeting on May 4 in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the May Fourth Movement, a patriotic campaign launched by Chinese youth in 1919 against imperialism and feudalism.
Wuxi Party Secretary Li Xiaomin, Wuxi Mayor Huang Qin and a number of governors attended the meeting.
Li said that in a keynote speech delivered at a ceremony to reflect on the centenary of the May Fourth Movement, President Xi Jinping called on China's young people to uphold Marxist beliefs, follow the Party's leadership and devote themselves to the nation and its people.
Xi said the themes, direction and mission of youth movements and young people must focus on upholding the CPC's leadership and working to realize the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation.
Young people in Wuxi city are the main force in city construction and development, and they should uphold Marxist beliefs, follow the Party's leadership and devote themselves to the nation and the people, said Li.
During the meeting, the winners of the Wuxi Youth May Fourth Medal were invited to voice their ideas about Xi's speech and share their life stories, including Gan Lin from the National Supercomputing Center in Wuxi, Gao Ke from Fasten Group and Hu Fei, a worker from the environmental management office of Taihu National Tourism Resort.
