The History of the Communist Party of China in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province (Volume One) was issued on April 22 as an authoritative source for study and research.
The book was published at a symposium celebrating the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Wuxi.
On April 23, 1949, the People's Liberation Army, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), crossed the Yangtze River and liberated Wuxi and other cities from the control of Kuomintang forces, hastening the end of the civil war.
The book narrates events since the establishment of the first CPC branch in Wuxi in January 1925 up to the liberation of Wuxi. It is based on Wuxi People's Revolutionary History, published 20 years ago, and complements the previous book with important historical events, including the Wuxi rural economic survey and the Wanfang Pavilion Meeting. The latest research into the CPC's history during the period of China's New-Democratic Revolution contributes much to the book.
Xu Jie, deputy Party secretary of the CPC Wuxi Municipal Committee, described Wuxi as a city with a glorious revolutionary tradition. It is not only important to review history, but also learn from it and steadfastly move towards an established goal.
