Over 5,000 female runners took part in the 2019 Wuxi Taihu International Women's Half Marathon on Sunday in Wuxi, Jiangsu province.
The only marathon especially for women in the city, it was held this year for the fourth time since 2016. Runners from China, Kenya, America, Malaysia and Singapore enjoyed the beautiful scenery of Mashan and around Taihu Lake.
This year's marathon allowed participants to choose from five groups. Besides the individual women's half marathon (21.095 km), there was also an 11km race for pairs of friends without a gender restriction.

After a fiercely competitive race, Cecilia Wayua Michael from Kenya won first place in the individual half marathon with a time of 1 hour 15 minutes 27 seconds.
The medal for this year's race is a silver necklace in the shape of a crown, given to everyone who completes a marathon.
"It is the fourth time I've taken part in the race and I've recommended it to my family and friends," said runner Hu Yajuan from Changzhou, "I am partial to the beautiful natural scenery along the route."
