Wuxi Yanqiao sub-district held a grand folk culture festival in celebration of Sanyuesan on April 7.
Sanyuesan, which in Chinese refers to the third day of the third lunar month, is one of the country's most famous folk festivals and is usually observed through a series of celebrations.
This year featured a series of folk activities, including a grand folk parade, a waist drum presentation, stilt walking and other local folk art shows.
In celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, floats followed the parade route expressing the people's gratitude to the country and their great expectations for the future.

Locals enjoyed various interactive cultural activities such as paper-cutting and bamboo carving and tasted the specialties of Jiangnan, an area south of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River.
Performers from Wuxi Opera Troupe staged the most famous Wuxi opera, "Pearl Tower" (Zhen Zhu Ta), during the night. The audience were excited to experience the visually rich folk art.
