The 2019 Wuxi International Cherry Blossom Festival opened on March 26 in Turtle Head Isle of Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, attracting visitors from 29 countries in the world.
It has become not only a festival for cherry blossom admiring, but also a platform for enhancing friendship and communication between people in Wuxi and foreign countries.
A cherry blossom tree planting activity was held on March 27 in celebration of the 32nd anniversary of the Sino-Japanese Cherry Blossom Friendship Forest, which was co-built by the city and a Japanese civic group in 1987 and is a testimony of the friendship between Wuxi and Japanese people.
Several other activities that display the folk culture and art of Japan and Wuxi were also held, such as a Japanese tea ceremony, Japanese traditional music performances and an exhibition of Wuxi's intangible cultural heritages, including the unique local embroidery, woodcut prints and opera.
