Jinkui Park in Binhu district, Wuxi city, will launch a cherry blossom festival on March 23 as the flowers bloom for early spring.
There are about 5,000 cherry trees in the park, the largest free and open scenic spot in the city for admiring cherry blossoms.
During last year's festival, the park received an average of 30,000 visits per day and sometimes as many as 50,000 due to its popularity as a 5A (the highest grade) state-level tourism site, said An Shun, deputy general manager for the park management.
This year's festival will feature a series of cultural leisure activities, including cherry tree adoption, a couples' running contest and a parent-child reading, according to the hosts of the festival.
In addition, the park will hold a fair for domestic and foreign creative cultural products, a display of diversified culture.
To create an orderly environment, the local government will make available nearly 1,000 parking spaces to ease the traffic pressure.
