Wuxi has striven to promote its agricultural brand in recent years, focusing particularly on high-end and delicate agriculture. The city now has one national agricultural science and technology park and three provincial ones, as well as four national and 33 provincial leading agriculture companies.
Wuxi National Agricultural Science and Technology Park, home to 99 agricultural enterprises, has worked with over 10 research institutes on technology research and achievement transfer, and undertaken more than 100 projects at municipal level and above, with 39 achievements having gained independent intellectual property rights. The park ranked fifth among the 48 national agricultural parks that were part of the sixth batch passing assessment in 2018.
According to Jiang Long, director of the park's production department, the park has bred over 2,000 quality rice varieties.
In addition to crops, flowers also grow well in the park's smart greenhouse, which is controlled by an IoT system and able to automatically adjust the temperature, illumination and humidity. The 100,000-square-meter greenhouse adopts florescence-control techniques to control flowering and better satisfy market demand.
The park, with an area of 12 square kilometers, has built eight featured areas, including an agricultural expo park and demonstration areas for quality rice production and flower growing. This year, it will plan for an IoT information center that is expected to serve as a platform for the intelligent planting of crops and flowers.
