Wuxi city will host its first sports carnival from Jan 25 to Feb 2 in Wuxi New Sports Center, according to a news conference held on Jan 8.
Sponsored by Wuxi Municipal Sports Bureau and Wuxi Sports Federation, the multi-sports event will celebrate the Spring Festival and promote close relationships between parents and children.
There are no complicated rules for the Wuxi Sports Carnival. It contains six major parts and over 30 activities, including a winter camping event, ice and snow sports events, shooting, football, basketball and tennis.

Over 2,000 citizens will take part in the square dance competition, aiming to further strengthen sports and fitness programs for the elderly, create a healthy square dance culture and increase happiness among the general population.
Teams taking part in the competition can select from 12 patterns composed by the National Square Dance Promotion Commission, designed scientifically and logically so that they are easy to learn.
A total of 1,500 square dance spots have been officially designated by the government, allowing over 32,000 citizens to take part in the daily exercise.
Wuxi Sports Carnival will enrich cultural life, stimulate vitality, improve staff quality, enhance team cohesion, build a learning platform for communication and interaction, and create a harmonious and charming city.
