Chinese foil fencer Fu Yiting qualified for the women's individual foil event of the 2018 World Fencing Championships in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province on July 20.
Fu won a bronze medal in the Asian Fencing Championships that took place in Bangkok in June, and she sustained her good run of form in the opening stages of the tournament taking place in Wuxi as she secured victories over all the contestants in her group.
"I played with great patience today, and did my best, that's good enough," said Fu, the world number 38, adding that she adhered acted strictly by the tactics suggested by her coach.

Along with Fu, three other Chinese foil fencers, Chen Qingyuan, Huo Xingxin and Shi Yue all qualified and are scheduled to compete in the round of 64 on July 23.
As for the men's individual epee, only one Chinese athlete, Xue Yangdong, was assured of a place after two tough wins in the qualifying elimination rounds.
"I feel very glad that I qualified today, but I am not that content with my overall performance.” said Xue, who won three of five games in pools, giving him a place in the elimination rounds.
"It was a pity to lose two of the games today, I should have done better." Xue said. However the Chinese fencer managed to qualify for the round of 64 by winning his last two games.
The number of entrants for the women's foil and men's epee individual events this year are 108 and 179 respectively.
