World Environment Day is an opportunity for people to express a thoughtfulness towards nature and for foreign students living in the East China city of Wuxi, this meant an opportunity to sport eco-friendly clothes and hit the catwalk.
While the local government often organizes activities for the roughly 12,000 Wuxi expats to gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture, this time it was the foreign students that took the lead in hosting a DIY eco-friendly fashion activity.
Students transformed old items of clothing or used fashion skills to compile new outfits in the hope of showing the importance of reusing clothing in order to better treat the environment. A wide array of fashion styles were on display, some humorous and others quirky, and the show was well appreciated by those in attendance.
In addition, professional designers, environmentalists, and teachers were invited to share their ideas on how to protect and look after the environment.
