The city of Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province held a groundbreaking ceremony on May 3 to start the construction of a cutting-edge VR experience town costing 20 billion yuan ($3 billion).

Covering a planning area of about 1.6 million sq m, the town named Merman will be located at the Taihu National Tourist Resort of Mashan, and made up of five live-action zones, a comprehensive commercial culture area and a digital entertainment technology industry park.
