Yuqi town in northwest Wuxi, Jiangsu province, celebrated the traditional Shangsi Festival on the third day of the third lunar month, which this year fell on a rainy March 30. The town did not let the spring drizzle dampen its spirits, with locals holding colorful folk activities.
Pageant parade
A performance of a dragon dance started a colorful parade around 9 am, with a group of international guests forming a phalanx at the end of the procession, following groups of performers demonstrating traditional art forms.
The international group covered the section along Yanyu Road, between Tongting Square and Hairui Road. The members took various props, such as doll masks, floral carrying poles and waist drums, to experience the real flavor of a folk parade.
