Changguangxi Wetland Park received exciting news recently as it became the third park in Jiangsu province's city of Wuxi to achieve national wetland status.
Located at the foot of Junzhang Hill and spread across 375 hectares, the scenic area connects Lihu Lake to Taihu lake.
The park, situated due south of the city's Binhu region, is a glorious expanse of hills, lakes, and rich vegetation. The park opened in 2008 and is often referred to as the lung of Taihu and Lihu lakes. It is home to 213 types of plants and 230 species of animals, which intermingle to create a rich and diverse ecosystem.

Local government can certainly take some credit for the success of promoting and protecting Changguangxi wetland. In recent years, the authorities have drained river channels and funded the mass planting of trees and aquatic plants, which increase the purity of the water.
A government official from the agriculture department believes the recognition is a positive sign for the city.
"Wuxi will continue to promote the protection of wetlands and ecological tourism."
The wetland is the city's third park to attain such an honor and follows in the wake of Lianghong National Wetland Park and Lihu National Wetland Park.
