In recent years competitive gaming has become more and more lucrative with prize pots at big competitions running into the millions. Wuxi's Huallywood studio was on hand recently to host such an event, the MarsTV Dota 2 League (MDL) Battle Fury trophy.
Following on from an event held in spring, the MDL returned with a whopping 1.5 million yuan ($228,000) prize pool up for grabs, as teams competed from around the globe, on Jan 27.

Dota 2 is a multiplayer online battle arean (MOBA) video game developed Valve Cooperation.
Teams fighting it out in the event are considered the world's best and included Vici Gaming, OG, Evil Geniuses, LGD Gaming, EHOME, Team Secret.

Chinese team EHOME, one of the oldest teams in the tournament, claimed victory in the grand finals.

Wuxi Studios is a filmmaking base that is also known as Huallywood. Many big budget films have used the production facilities of companies based there, such as award-winning special effects company Base FX which supplied more than 400 images for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Other films that have been produced there include Transformers: Age of Extinction and Mojin: the Lost Legend.
Huallywood is also a national 4A scenic spot.
