Wuxi city, Jiangsu province, on Nov 9 signed a letter of intent with Durham region, Ontario province, Canada, to become sister cities, according to the Chinese-language Wuxi Daily.
The two sides agreed to facilitate cooperation in economy, technology, talent recruitment, investment, culture, travel and education. Eastern Ontario's Trent University signed cooperation agreements with Wuxi No 1 Senior High School and Wuxi Foreign Language School.
Li Xiaomin, the Party secretary of Wuxi, Jiangsu province, met with Durham Region chair Roger Anderson during the signing ceremony.
Li expressed his warm welcome to the Canadian delegation and briefly introduced developments in Wuxi's economy in recent years. He said that Wuxi and Canada, especially Ontario province, have been cooperating in economy and trade in recent years.
Anderson said that he was deeply impressed by the beauty of Wuxi, adding that the two sides had great opportunities for cooperation due to their similar economic structures. He said that the Durham government would facilitate investment cooperation with Wuxi city in the future.
