The establishment of sister city relationships between Wuxi and Puebla were officially approved by the end of 2014.

Well known for its prosperous tourism development, Puebla was awarded as a must-see tourist city by many mainstream medias such as the New York Times.
The manufacturing industry of Puebla is well-developed. It has nine industrial parks and is home to the largest overseas production base of Germany's Volkswagen.
Puebla has become the 48th international sister city of Wuxi, becoming Wuxi’s second sister city in Latin America after Sorocaba, Brazil.
