Potter Poly, vice-governor of Noord-Brabant, visited Wuxi on November 27, 2015, with a delegation of Noord-Brabant government officials and entrepreneurs.
Wang Quan, mayor of Wuxi; Ye Qinliang, secretary-general; Chen Minghui, director of the foreign affairs office; and officials from the agriculture commission and commercial bureau met the delegation in the Wuxi Civic Center.
Wang Quan introduced the economic and social development of Wuxi and the long-term friendly communication between Wuxi and Noord-Brabant. More than 80 Noord-Brabant enterprises have invested in Wuxi, reaching a total investment of $1.6 billion. Meanwhile, investment to the Netherlands from Wuxi enterprises also rapidly increased in recent years.
Wang said that Wuxi has been engaged in economic transformation and upgrading in recent years, mainly in the fields of Internet, micro-electronics, biological medicine and new energy. He looked forward to exploring the new communicative fields together with Mr. Poly.
Wang added that the new memorandum of cooperation signed by Jiangsu Governor Li Xueyong in October 2014 provides a good opportunity for Wuxi to participate in the friendly communication actively. He suggested the sister city to build a Netherlands Industrial Park in Wuxi in order to increase cooperation on clean technologies and to promote substantive cooperation projects on home-based care, biological medicine, modern agriculture, clean technologies and new energy.
Poly said that the friendly relationship between Jiangsu province and Noord-Brabant has lasted for 20 years. Noord-Brabant has advanced experiences in health care, bioscience, chip manufacturing, modern agriculture, clean technologies and new energy.
He specifically mentioned that Rong Baozhi, mayor of Den Bosch (the friendly city of Wuxi and the capital of Noord-Brabant), has been the chairman of the regional alliance, which consists of 21 cities in the Netherlands. He hoped this advantage could provide help in mutual cooperation.
He also invited Wang to visit Noord-Brabant with the economic and trade delegation, and to further discuss and implement cooperation in these fields.
