Residents recognized for efforts in environmental protection

A total of 365 Baotou residents were recognized for their contributions to the protection of the environment at an awards ceremony on June 5, according to Baotou Evening News.

Zhang Jianfang, a journalist at Baotou Daily, was recognized for her efforts in promoting awareness of environmental protection. Zhang said as a journalist she would put even more emphasis on reporting environmental issues.

The day marked the 46th World Environment Day (WED).

WED falls on June 5 every year, and is aimed at raising awareness of emerging environmental issues and encouraging worldwide action on environmental protection. WED has developed into a global platform for public outreach with 143 countries participating.
