Medical system
There were 23,055 medical institutions in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in 2012, including 519 hospitals, 1,329 clinics in villages and rural areas, 119 disease prevention and control organizations, 116 maternal and child health organizations and 52 specialized disease prevention and treatment centers or offices.
These medical institutions involved 110,800 beds in the autonomous region, including 82,300 in hospitals, 17,500 in clinics in villages and rural areas, and 3,100 in maternal and child health organizations.
A total of 140,000 medical professionals were employed in the autonomous region, including 80,500 in hospitals, 17,700 in clinics at the county or town level, 4,800 in disease prevention and control organizations, and 5,200 in maternal and child health organizations.
Also in 2012, there were 59,600 registered doctors and assistant doctors in the autonomous region and 46,800 registered nurses.
In addition, there were 14,000 medical centers in villages and rural areas at the end of 2012, involving 19,400 doctors and assistant nurses.
