Bu Xiaolin, chairwoman of the Inner Mongolia People’s Government, delivered a work report for attending deputies of the regional people’s congress. Bu expressed that the economic and social development saw a stable and steady increase in 2016.
With an increase of 7.3 percent, the region’s total GDP hit 1.9 trillion yuan ($276 billion), and the general public budget revenue reached 202 billion yuan, a 7 percent growth compared to the same period of 2015.
The proportion of high energy-consuming industries decreased 1.6 percent, including the coal industry, chemical engineering, and fossil-fired power generation. With innovative businesses emerging, the region’s service industries rose by 2 percent, and the volume of patent applications swelled with a growth of 25 percent. Furthermore, the per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents increased 8 percent, exceeding the growth rate of region’s economy, reported Bu.
Bu also proposed her perspective and goals for 2017, including the region’s GDP, investment in fixed assets, retail sales of social consumer goods, people’s income, employment rate, and energy consumption rate, all of which will reach the proposed targets through earnest efforts from officials at all levels and people from a variety of communities.
