Baotou, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, was selected as one of the top 50 smart cities in China, the third time that the city has made it to the list, Baotou Daily reported on Sept 21.
The city is seeing the development of an increasingly information-based local economy and the local government is committed to developing Baotou into a smart city, with development in big data and cloud computing.
The cities on the list are selected taking into account the city’s information infrastructure, the information environment, and the integration of multiple information and communication technologies. The list will be renewed every two years and the 50 winners will be announced at a press conference.
This year’s press conference took place in Ningbo, East China’s Zhejiang province, on Sept 10. Other winners included Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, capital of South China’s Guangdong province.
